The personal statement is your opportunity to reveal something about yourself that can’t be found anywhere else in your application â€" use it! Many students use this essay to expound upon activities or interests that are already heavily demonstrated in their application through courses, the activity list, and more. Instead of reinforcing a top activity or interest, instead, write about something that reveals another dimension of your life or personality. If your top activity is swimming, don’t write about the big championship meet. Find something else that reveals something new and that shows you put a lot of thought into your essay. There is no need to write a formulaic essay with an introduction, three-point body and conclusion. This is your opportunity to showcase your personality. What makes you who you are â€" was it a struggle in the past?

The essay prompt may say “in under 500 words” or “in at least 500 words,” which would state whether 500 is the minimum or maximum word count. If that information is not specified, write as much as you need to comprehensively address the prompt without frivolous content. Topics like death and divorce are cautionary because they can be extremely difficult to write about. The Nescac Colleges

The Nescac Colleges I was told by my parents to value these crayons because their sheer quantity would last me through elementary school. And, out of all my friends, I was the only one to receive free meals. I was convinced that our family was special; when in actuality, I was being protected from a harsher reality. So, see this UC Personal Insight Question as the perfect opportunity to practice your answer. At the same time, I’ve found that many CS concepts, from simple data structures to complicated algorithms, are often redolent of the abstract high-level math problems that I so enjoy. I took my first step in an environment littered with wires and monitors hooked up to development boards. With brush strokes the colors of syntax highlights, I paint beautiful lines of code. Once every extraneous brace is removed, once the last semicolon is duly placed, once all NullPointerErrors are fixed, and I finally let the program runâ€"that’s where true joy lies. Yet, above all, I value connectivity, as there are always people who have pushed me towards success. Tears trailed down from my eyes when I discovered the surmounting amount of loansâ€"all confessing the magnitude of my parents’ sacrifices to create a “normal life” for me. I was given a quality education, because my parents took out a mortgage for a house in a better school district. I was given ceaseless love and support, because my mom gave up her career to become a full-time mom. My cheeks blushed with embarrassment, as I glanced over my 64-pack of crayons that were, in fact, from the Dollar Store. Upon returning to the Tate Gallery the following summer, I approached exhibitions with a new mindset, and a newfound appreciation for art pieces that provoke new questions and curiosity. With these experiences of combining hardware and software, computer science and agriculture, I’ve emerged empowered to tackle problems from combining multidisciplinary perspectives. In some form, sacrifices are always being made by our family, friends, and communityâ€"all for another’s benefit. I’m thrilled that my humble platform has gained traction in the community. This is my second year running the club and my other team members clearly show the enthusiasm to keep the organization alive. Best of all, within two years, we will see the first batch of alums in varsity debate at my high school. Within 2-weeks, I started meeting with the school principals in my city to communicate my visions. Watching my dad, a firmware engineer, fidget with circuit boards that looked like tiny metropolitan cities, I became enamored with computer science and its principles. The unified and coherent languages, built around simple conceptsâ€"ifs and andsâ€"captured my interest, and by age six, I was writing simple programs in KPL. I became lost in a world tied to reality only by strings of 0s and 1sâ€"a world that spurred my enduring curiosity and creativity. This was my chance to learn about the science behind insomniaâ€"especially about its effects on our overall wellnessâ€"to better understand my friend’s tragic situation. Fortunately, they were very receptive to the idea, prompting me to begin advertising the immediately. The months of failure finally led to a fruitful solution, and the increase of data was pivotal in our lab’s application for grants. This process taught me the importance of making connections between seemingly unrelated fields like economics and psychology to investigate the meaning behind art that gives it new meaning, new light. My first duty was patient recruitment through marketing our clinical study to the community, but soon transitioned to data analysis and treatment. Statistical programs such as R and SAS became my best friends, and tests for cognitive ability and neuropsychological status like MOCA and RBANS were my favorite patient evaluations.
