Forgiveness is a promise not a feeling. When you forgive someone is making a promise not to use past sins against them. I think to forgive is to become okay with what has happen. As for i believe that forgiveness must be deserved and no apology cures the damage that has been done. Yes I wasn’t there or Germans born today weren t present in what took place in the Holocaust but we have to take a moment and put ourselves in Wiesenthal shoes and ask ourselves what would have we done? By focusing on forgiveness we seem to overlook the deeper problem of which was the Holocaust. All Jews including Wiesenthal had to push through everyday to be able to see the bright sunlight the next morning. Our author says â€Å"Today’s news was worse than yesterday’s,and tomorrow’s would be worse still†(Simon, Wiesenthal Pg.4) . As for Jews and Wiesenthal had to face a new challenge every day and had to maintain with force for the next one. Who are we to blame Wiesenthal to question his feelings towards the SS man Karl. The conscious to remain with the image that Karl had described to him and to not be able to remove it since it was already said to him. I think that Wiesenthal became confused in which he did not know if he was the correct person to take all weight in being the one to take responsibility to be able to give Karl this forgiveness he was asking for.
